The North Dakota Legislature, in the recent special session, has given approval for DHS to spend an additional $31.6 million dollars on home and community based services from federal ARPA funding.

The department has proposed to spend this money on increasing capacity of the HCBS system, supporting transitions from the Life Skills Transition Center, and piloting services to address gaps. This funding will go towards:

  • Expanding availability and utilization of Family Care Option

  • Community behavioral supports for small scale residential settings

  • LSTC Transition and Diversion Flexible Support Fund

  • QSP rate innovations and gap analysis 

  • Improvements to the Care Connect platform, ADRL system and Informed Choice
